Arts, Culture and Events
Something for everyone...
Whether it’s for time out, trying something new or getting creative, there are plenty of opportunities to expand cultural activity in Pitlochry. The Pitlochry & Moulin Heritage Centre has offered great support to the Trust, not to mention the Festival Theatre and a growing arts and creative sector in the town. The Trust plans to build on these successes by improving access, supporting new initiatives and growing local participation in the arts, among all age groups.
Main Priorities
- Arts and cultural facilities
- Support and develop local events
- Support and develop arts and cultural activities
Priorities and Actions
Improve and develop arts and cultural facilities
A prime goal is to help the community make greater use of the amazing resources at Pitlochry Festival Theatre. More collaboration between the Theatre and local volunteer groups, schools and residents in general; community partnerships, young persons workshops, hire options and film screenings are just some of the excellent suggestions put forward.
Multi-arts spaces are a great way to ensure best use of resources… renovating the drama hut would fit the bill here. Similarly, the Town Hall is under-used and could support pop-up arts & cultural spaces or cinema.
With additional volunteers a new Arts and Culture Action Group could take the lead and prioritise deliverables, potentially setting up more formal studios with artist development training, exhibition and workshop space, hotdesking and even a storefront.
Make it happen! Volunteer or join us at one of our regular meetings to make your voice heard. For more information, see our Get Involved page.
Support and develop local events
Pitlochry & Moulin Heritage Centre is another great local asset, we need the community to join us in supporting its existing activities and to bring new life and new ideas to the centre. We are also keen to help develop and showcase new young talent in arts and music. Using empty spaces to provide pop-up galleries or workshops; taking advantage of outdoor spaces to promote local talent via ‘paintings on railings’ events at the recreation ground.
Join us and along with the organisations below we can help bring back a year-round buzz to our local venues and create amazing opportunities for both young and old.
