An asset review in Pitlochry undertaken by Perth and Kinross Council has raised concerns about the future of Pitlochry Town Hall. 

Dating back over 120 years, Pitlochry Town Hall has served as a crucial hub of community activity for local residents and visitors to the town for generations. It provides a wide range of community groups and organisations, as well as individuals, with a versatile indoor space, and is a key venue for events.

The council has confirmed that it intends to relinquish proprietorship of the listed building, and the Pitlochry Town Hall Group (PTHG) is currently exploring the feasibility of taking it on for the benefit of the community.

Pitlochry Community Action Trust (PCAT) works towards facilitating the sustainable development of the town in line with the aspirations set out in the community action plan for Pitlochry (www.pitlochryaction.org.uk/community-action-plan/) with the goal of making a positive difference locally. 

As part of this, PCAT has committed to proactively supporting PTHG until the end of 2024 as it investigates a possible community asset transfer of the Town Hall and advances proposals for the viable, long-term and sustainable development of the building. 

Through PCAT, PTHG is able to access advice and funding, and work with PKC and a number of national organisations including the Scottish Land Fund and the Community Ownership Support Service (COSS) towards this objective.

Everyone involved in this process is aware that the community asset transfer process and the running of a town hall as successful venture will involve a significant amount of time, effort, commitment, expertise and volunteers from the community should it come to fruition.
